We've had a cold month here in Ohio. We've also had quite a bit of snow, but it's often been accompanied by frigid temperatures and single-digit or below-zero wind chills. Inside activities has been the name of the game, and we've already hit up just about every indoor play resource in the city. Aaahhh--it's only the second week of January!
Yesterday we decided to venture a little farther from home to find some fun for the day and headed down to the Newport Aquarium. It's a bit of a drive for us--almost two hours one way--but always worth the trip! We were a little disappointed to discover that our favorite exhibit, the penguins, are off display until spring, but we did get to see Mighty Mike, a 14-foot long, 800-lb. alligator...which is bigger than it sounds. (By the way, Nonno and Nonna--Mike was a nuisance alligator caught in Florida...watch your backs!) We managed to get through the gator exhibit uneaten and ended our visit at the shark touch tank. Nico got to pet a puffadder shark. When Mark asked him what it felt like, he said, "Chocolate!"
