There is an enormous difference between how I spent my time when Nico was a baby and how I spend it now. These days I focus a lot of energy and attention on keeping Rocco alive--preventing him from killing himself or being killed by his brother. Nico only occasionally got a bump or bruise as a little one. Rocco gets hurt every. single. day. If he doesn't get hit or shoved by Nico, he manages to do himself harm by attempting to copy one of his brother's stunts. He believes he can do anything Nico can. He is 18 months old going on 3 and a half years.
After healing up nicely after his emergency trip to the dental trauma chair at Children's in November, Roc thought it was time from another bar fight...er, accident.
Both boys love to race through the kitchen and downstairs hall on their ride-on toys. Nico can really race and takes corners like an F1 car drives a chicane. And so Rocco tries to do it too. One recent attempt did not pan out well, and he flipped his car and landed face first on the hearth of our kitchen fireplace. The photo above was taken about four days post wipe-out, and his black eye had just about vanished.
