Today we took a trip to the living historical farm at Slate Run Metro Park. Nico was very excited to see "sheeps" and talked about them quite a bit on the drive down, but he also got to visit with horses, cows, hogs, turkeys, chickens, ducks and geese. It was quite an obstacle course for a three year old--pitchforks, scythes and sickles everywhere--but we managed to investigate every nook and cranny and still avoid a trip to the emergency room. As usual, Rocco's reactions to the animals were squeals, and Nico attempted to communicate to them all in their own languages, having the best conversation with the noisy pigs. He was thrilled that they were oinking at him. Rocco stayed restrained in his stroller while we explored all around the sharp equipment and animal poo in the barnyard, but he had a great time roaming around the farmhouse and garden. His favorite part was riding on my lap in the tree swing. Nico seemed most interested in a hammock strung outside the summer kitchen--because there's not one in our backyard at home or anything (*sarcasm*).
