This morning we visited the life-size nativity at the State Auto building in downtown Columbus. State Auto has been erecting its famous display of more than 70 figures since the mid-1950s. Visiting the nativity was a tradition for my family when I was growing up, and it was incredibly special to take my own children this year for the first time. Because it was morning, Saturday and absolutely freezing, we were the only ones there. Perfect. We were able to let Nico get a bit closer to things than he should have been--he walked through the Field of Shepherds and petted and kissed every animal! Shhh...
